the king of losers’ brand

i was talking to a friend of mine earlier this morning and we somehow got to talk about another common friend named jeff. well, as a sort of background story, our group of friends is lovingly called the LOSERS since we all seem to have an unusual share of embarrassing and so-called “loser” moments.

anyway, it was my daughter’s first birthday and cliff made a sort of grand entrance with a gift bought and wrapped from toy kingdom. anyway, we were all happy to see him as cliff has the uncanny ability to “disappear in thin air.” so anyway, the birthday went fine until the opening of the presents. well, technically, the presents were opened at home when all the guests were gone. since my daughter still has no idea of presents, i was the one opening the boxes. eventually i came to cliff’s gift and voila! it was a cute piano-cum-telephone which was battery operated. i was so excited to show it to lyka so i put in some batteries and gave it to her. it was a hit. so she played with it for hours and hours. then it was sleepy time. i took the toy away from her and tried to figure out how to turn the toy off. but to my chagrin, it does not have an off button! of all the toys that my friend cliff could have ever found, he got one that can’t be shut off!

it was really funny thinking about silly things like that among friends. the whole toy incident is still a source of laughs among our group. but despite the funnies, it is the thoughtfulness of my friends that really matter – that they would take some time out of their schedule to come and be a part of our daughter’s first big day. i really like those guys and that switch-less toy will always be a reminder of that invaluable friendship among us.
