    Last Saturday we went to my daughters’ pediatrician for their regular checkup and vaccinations. With us are my parents while Leejay had his occasional R&R. It started like any other visit to the doctor have been until the vaccination came round. Lyka was first to go and she cried up a storm. She was wailing like a banshee and was flailing around. Afterward, my dad took her out of the examination room so that she won’t get upset any further but she wouldn’t do. She kept yelling “No! No! No!”. In the end, my dad took Lyka back into the examination room with me and Kylee. Dra Liz was preparing the syringe for Kylee and while she was doing this, Lyka was looking at her with a gaze that could have killed her. When she administered the vaccine, Lyka was shouting again. She had her arms stretched out, warding her pediatrician away from sister, screaming “No! No! No!”

    I was touched by what Lyka displayed as her protectiveness toward her sister. At such a young age, Lyka is already had an idea that a big sister should protect her younger siblings from hurt and pain. She was really indignant about inflicting pain to Kylee that she was really mad at her pediatrician. she wouldn’t let me and Kylee sit opposite the doctor in her office. Lyka would sit in front of Kylee and I, shielding us from the doctor. Or maybe she does that so she could have access to the doctor’s table top artifacts. XD

    Still, I’d rather think that my daughter sees herself as a good big sister who protects her younger sibling. To me, she is indeed her sister’s keeper.
