A Tribute to Genius

Last night my husband and I finally got a chance to watch the latest batman movie, The Dark Knight and all I can say is that my mind was blown away. I could understand how the movie made US$18 million on it’s first showing. The storyline was gripping as well as the actors’ performance. But in my opinion, the best performance came from the antagonist — The Joker.

The Joker, as Batman’s arch-nemesis, has been portrayed in various ways; from funny and campy, to human and flawed, to chaos and anarchy personified, and the best Joker portrayal I’ve seen has been from the movie The Dark Knight, done by the late Heath Ledger. I have never seen a darker characterization of The Joker before.

I had no idea that this movie’s Joker was played by Heath Ledger, and when I realized that, I was awed by his skill, and saddened by his untimely demise. I have seen him only once before, in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. I thought he was cute and that was all. Only now did i see his genius. To be able to portray such madness and chaos is at best the hardest challenge an actor will have to face, and to pull it off with such brilliance can only be described as exquisite.

I take off my proverbial hat to Heath for such astounding performance, as well to his character, The Joker, for such sheer evil genius. I so loved his twisted mind games. XD

So a commendation to genius gone too soon. May he bag the Best Supporting Actor Award posthumously. I’m very well convinced that he deserves it.
